Leslie Carman was born in Indiana in 1889. Shortly after moving to California, he founded "Leslie Carman 4-H Supplies" in 1932. It was then, and remains today, the sole source of fine quality hand-made uniform accessories for the active California 4-H club member. Everything in this catalog is either completely hand-made, or in the case of the men's neck ties, silk-screened by hand. Family members comprised the majority of Mr. Carman's work force, and the same is true today.
Upon Mr. Carman's retirement in 1978, his daughter, Catherine Schmitt, assumed the business. Upon Mrs. Schmitt's retirement Marcia Blomquist, Leslie Carman's granddaughter assumed the business until December of 2005.
Leslie Carman 4-H Supplies, now in its 84th year is still in the family. Kelly Plummer, Mr. Carman's great-granddaughter, took over for Mrs. Blomquist upon her retirement. She continues in the tradition of offering the California 4-H club member high quality hand-made goods at reasonable prices. We look forward to serving you now and in the years to come.
